OMGosh, it's been...almost 3 months since I posted a chapter. I AM SO SORRY. I've been working, been away alot and working on other stories and I completely forgot about this one. I have ideas though and they will be coming up. So hope you enjoy this chapter :)
Over the summer Max had finally finished up everything with his divorce. Now all he had to do was sign the papers. You have no idea how long I’ve waited for this day. I know it sounds selfish, but when you love someone, you want them all to yourself. He’s not tied to her anymore, he’s all mine.
I was getting bigger, and to be honest, I hated it. I know I’m carrying another life, and I can’t wait for the chance to raise a child, but feeling like this really sucks. I can’t wait to have this baby.
“Max, I have an ultrasound tomorrow, around the same time as your meeting with the lawyer”
“It’s okay” he said, “You know I’ll be fine”
“Okay good” I smiled.
“How are you feeling?” he asked.
“Like shit” I sighed, “I don’t feel attractive at all”
“Jules” he replied, “You’re beautiful, don’t forget that, and it will all be worth it when the baby comes”
“Which is what I wanted to talk to you about…do you want to know the gender? I’ve been debating it for a while”
He sighed, “I don’t know…I think I’d rather it be a surprise”
“Okay good, me too”
“Only if you’re sure though” he said, “because if you change your mind I’m all for it”
I just laughed, “Okay, I’ll see how I feel”
--
The next morning I headed down for my ultrasound. I thought about what Max had said last night. I just can’t decide if I want to go through with it or not. It would be a lot easier to pick a name if we did know.
“Everything looks really good” my doctor said as I sat up, “I know you’ve been debating it for a while, so I thought I should ask if you want to know the gender”
I sat there for a moment contemplating whether I wanted to know. I thought about Max, and the fact that he would support anything I decided to do, but I think he’d be devastated if I told him the gender.
I sighed, “I think I’ll leave it for now, I know he wants it to be a surprise”
He just smiled, “Alright, well I will be seeing you in a couple months”
“Thank you”
I climbed into the drivers seat of my car when I heard my phone ringing. I reached across the passenger seat and saw Max’s number. I quickly answered, I hope everything went okay.
“Hey” I answered, “How’d it go?”
“Julie…there’s some bad news”
I tensed up, and my breath got caught in my throat, “what?”
“Jules…Liz is pregnant”
I was stunned, I couldn’t even speak.
“Julie”
I just shook my head, “please tell me she’s seeing someone else”
“She is…but she’s about as far along as you are, maybe a month longer”
“What are you saying Max?”
“Jules, she’s saying it’s mine….”
“Oh…” was all that managed to come out of my mouth. What else was I supposed to say?
“This makes things a lot more difficult now, doesn’t it?” he sighed.
“Sure does, custody battle, and the way your marriage ended…you know it could possibly go in her favor” but then it hit me.
“Wait, this just occurred to me…if she’s pregnant…this means that you were still sleeping with her when you were with me?”
“Julie…she was my wife”
I know I shouldn’t overreact about this, but just the thought of him sleeping with her when he was with me, even though they were married, still made me sick to my stomach.
“I’ll be at home…we can talk about this then”
I hung up before he could say another word. I thought this was over, no more fighting, I guess I was wrong. I didn’t want her in my life anymore, and I thought today would get her out of my life, today should have been the day. Now, she could be in my life a lot more than I want, and she will do everything in her power to make it miserable.

Chapter 16
*I know ! It's a miracle I have actually updated this story ! I need to think of some ideas to keep it going a little bit longer. Enjoy this for now, and I will do my best to get another update up sooon :)*
I grabbed anything I could and shoved it into my bag, “I’m going to Pittsburgh, I need to see him” I told Ally as she sat on the edge of my bed.
“Then I’m coming with you” she said.
I stopped to look at her, “What?”
“I’m tired of not being able to see Kris, and I know he’d be around, does he know you‘re coming?”
“Yes, he’s going to be at the airport” I said, “Go get your stuff, and I’ll see if I can get another ticket”
“Thanks Jules” she smiled running towards her bedroom.
Luckily I got another ticket for Ally and we were on our way in no time. I was anxious, nervous, and excited to see him again. I didn’t know what I would say or do, I just knew I needed to see his face again, feel his arms around me.
The flight was a little rough, I wasn’t a frequent flyer, and when I did fly, I did not enjoy it. We landed and the moment I stepped into the airport, I scanned the crowd. I felt someone grab my waist and I turned around to see Max. My breath was hitched in my throat, I couldn’t even speak. I just wrapped my arms around his neck and held on for dear life.
“I missed you, so much” I mumbled into his neck.
“I missed you too” he replied.
I pulled back to see the beard completely gone, and I saw the face I fell in love with, “I’m so proud of you, you were absolutely incredible”
“I wish you were there”
“Well I’m here now, and I promise you, I’m not going anywhere”
“Where’s Kris?” Ally asked anxiously.
“He’s actually waiting in the car”
“WHAT!? I waited here to watch you guys…make up, and he’s been there the whole time”
“Sorry” he shrugged.
“Well, are you going to show me where the car is or not?!” she exclaimed grabbing the last of her bags.
I grabbed the last of my bags and Max led us to his car. Kris came out to help before he spotted Ally with us.
“Ally?”
She just dropped her bags and jumped into his arms. I just smiled, to see my baby sister happy was the cherry on top of this amazing day.
“I guess I should have told you she was coming” Max said.
“That would have been nice” he laughed, “but I like surprises” he just smiled down at her and kissed the top of her head.
We went to Max’s apartment, not before dropping Ally and Kris off at Kris’. The fact that I was here with him again, was unbelievable.
“So when’s your day with the cup?” I asked sitting on the couch.
“Not til August, but you do know I have surgery in July”
“Oh right, your shoulder”
“Yah” he replied sitting down next to me, “it’s going to be a while before I can play again. They said a five month recovery”
“Well that brings you to December…” I said, “That’s not so bad”
“I guess…but I don’t want to think about that now” he said putting his hand on my stomach, “how’s the baby”
“Great” I smiled, “I need to make another appointment in the next few days”
“I’m coming with you”
“Max, don’t worry about me, worry about your surgery, and your divorce…”
He just cleared his throat and sat back, “you know how hard this is going to be”
“And I have no doubt that we will get through it” I replied.
He just smiled and placed his lips on mine gently. It’s been so long since I felt that, I never knew how much I really missed it. This moment, right now, today, was exactly where I wanted to be.

Chapter 15
*I know it's been ages, and I know this isn't very long, but it's the best I can come up with right at the moment, so I hoopess you like it :) Commmentts pleasseee*
It’s June 12th. The Penguins and Wings were fighting for the Stanley Cup, and tonight was Game 7, the decision would be made and I was terrified.
I sat on the couch in a pair of sweats and a Penguins hoodie. I’m about 4 months pregnant at this point, my stomach felt like it was bulging out and there was nothing I could do about it. I pulled my knees up to my chin and wrapped my arms around them as I watched the pre-game show go to Joe Louis for the opening faceoff. My stomach was turning, I was really nervous for them, I could only imagine how they are feeling.
“You want to be there, don’t you?” my dad asked.
“More than you know” I replied my voice breaking.
“I think you should see something” he told me standing up and grabbing his laptop. He set it in front of me and clicked on an article he had saved, “I knew I would have to show you eventually…”
I just set the laptop on my laptop and looked at the headline.
“Talbot and wife Liz to split”
I put my hand over my mouth in shock. Was it true, I read down the article.
“…after an affair with ex-reporter Julie Miller, Liz had finally had enough and the split was a unanimous decision between both…”
“Holy shit” I said quietly.
I looked up at the tv screen and watched as the game had finally started. I saw him. If he cared he would have called and told me. He would have tried to find me. But then again, it is the Stanley Cup Finals.
“If he really loves you, he’ll be back” my dad said.
“Thanks daddy” I smiled.
The game went really well. Max had already scored a goal and they were ahead 1-0. I was so proud of him, he was playing his heart out, you could tell. They all were.
When what looked like an innocent hit, Crosby came off, limping in the second period. Everyone was on the edge of their seats at this point, would it affect anything?
Max scored another second period goal to bring the lead up to 2-0. I almost knocked over a lamp, jumping from excitement. On another note, his beard…it had to go.
By this time, the game was 2-1, and the last 2 minutes of the third period were the longest 2 minutes of my life. The refs stopped play I don’t know how many times in one minute. Finally in the last few seconds, the Wings were all around the Penguins net, and had an incredible chance but Fleury got in the way of it, sealing the 2-1 win, winning the Stanley cup.
As I watched Sidney finally hoist the cup, I almost cried. I watched every player get their chance, and when it came to Max, I couldn’t help but smile, with a few tears. I wanted to be there, I wanted to jump onto the ice the moment they won, I wanted to wrap my arms around him, tell him I’m so proud of him, and tell him I love him. So much.
I didn’t know how long it would be before I would be able to get a hold of him. They’d be partying afterwards, I would be the last thing he would be thinking about.
I heard my phone vibrating and I reached to the coffee table to grab it. Max. Was I dreaming?
“Max…” I answered.
“Hi. I didn‘t think you‘d answer”
“Well I had to tell you I’m proud of you”
“I wish you were here” he replied, “I miss you”
“So do I” I said choking up, “I love you, so much”
“I love you too” he replied.
“And I need you, this baby needs you” I was crying rivers right now, “I need you Max”
“I’m here baby, and I’m not going anywhere”

Chapter 14
I sat on the bed I hadn’t slept in in five years. I just stared at the white closed door in front of me, letting my thoughts flow. I didn’t know what to think anymore. First Max leaves, now my sister hates me. What else could possible go wrong?
*Max’s POV*
Liz and I, things still were not working. I was ready to give up. We were going to counselling, doing everything they told us to do, we still fought, bickered, nothing was working. My family told me to keep trying, I was done trying, I just wanted Julie back.
Liz was gone and I had the place to myself. I dialled Julie’s number and it went straight to voice mail. She must have her phone off. I called her apartment, no answer. I texted her, and waited to see if I would get a response. Nothing. I tried calling again, voice mail. I was starting to get a bit worried honestly.
I grabbed my coat and threw on a pair of shoes while I grabbed the keys off the endtable. I shut the door behind me and practically ran to my car. I sped through the streets of Pittsburgh, hoping she was home.
I let myself in and went up the flight of stairs to her apartment. First door on the left. I knocked a few times but there was no answer. I sighed and made my way back to my car before a door opened near me and I turned around, to see an older lady.
“Are you looking for Julie Miller?” she asked.
“I am”
“Well son, she left yesterday. Packed up her things quite quickly, without warning, and was gone”
“Really?” I asked, “she’s…gone?”
“She’s gone” she shrugged.
“Did she mention where she was going?” I asked anxiously.
“She never said a word. I’m sorry”
“It’s alright. Thank you” I weakly smiled.
I slowly walked back to my car. She’s gone? She’s really gone. I decided to try my last resort. Ally.
“Hello?”
“Ally, it’s Max”
“And?”
“Do you happen to know where Julie went? The landlady said she was gone”
“Yah she left. She left Pittsburgh all together, she couldn’t be around, with the possibility of running into you. Do you know what that would do to her?”
“Yah…”
“Why am I helping her?”
“What?”
“We just got in a huge fight. I’m pissed off at her, and I’m still trying to help her”
“You mean she’s there…with you?”
She hesitated, “no…”
“She is!” I replied, “where are you?
“I can’t tell you” she sighed.
“Ally…please?”
“Max…I need to go. I’m sorry about what happened between you guys, maybe next time you should think twice about leaving her…” and all I heard was the dial tone.
*Julie’s POV*
I heard talking in Ally’s room. As I moved closer, I heard her talking about me…then I heard his name, Max.
“Were you just talking to Max?” I asked barging through her bedroom door.
“Ever hear of knocking?” she snapped.
“Ally?” I pleaded.
“Yes” she sighed, “he was asking about you. I guess he just found out you’re gone. You never told him?”
“No, cause he would just tell me to stay” I huffed, “this is better for both of us. We can move on with our lives”
“I don’t think you’re going to move on Julie” she said.
“Why?”
“You just barged into my room asking about Max…like a lovestruck teenager”
I just sighed, “Yah”
“Julie…I’ve been thinking, and I’m sorry about earlier. It was a stupid fight…”
“I’m sorry too. I have been being a bit selfish lately”
“Yah so have I” she replied.
I just reached out for a hug and she stood up and wrapped her arms around me.
“Have you talked to Kris?”
“I did” she smiled, “we’re going to see each other when he is in Montreal next. In about a month…we’ll text and call until then” you couldn’t wipe that smile off her face if you tried.
“I’m happy for you” I smiled.
“Thank you” she said.
I gave her another quick hug and went to my bedroom. Seeing her so happy, made me happy, but it also disgusted me in a way. I used to be that happy, I just don’t understand where it could have all went wrong. You know what…I’m going to call him.
I grabbed my phone that I’ve had turned off for the past few days and turned it on. It seems he beat me to the punch. He left 20 messages, 25 text messages, and 35 missed calls. I immediately called him, sick to my stomach with worry.
“Julie” he said with a sigh of relief.
“Are you ok?” I asked, “I know you talked to my sister…”
“Why didn’t you say you were leaving?”
“Because I knew you would beg me to stay” I replied, “I couldn’t stay there…there was too many memories Max”
“Julie, I need to see you”
“Max, right now…I don’t think that’s a very good idea”
“Julie, she’s not making me happy like you, I need you…”
“I think you should have thought of that when you listened to your family…”
I hung up the phone and sat cross legged on my bed, staring at it. If he truly cared, he would call back. I stared at the phone…nothing. Maybe it was best that this was over between us, and he could fix his marriage.
*Max’s POV*
I got back to our place and opened the door. Something didn’t feel right. I looked in the bedroom and all Liz’s things…were gone. I saw a note on the table.
I’m tired of coming in second, you want her, have her… I’m done
I just stared at the note, she was leaving? Great…first I leave Julie, than Liz leaves me, maybe that’s Karma at work. I crumpled up the piece of paper in my hand and tossed it in the garbage. Everything felt…better now. I didn’t love Liz anymore, there was a point when she made me fall head over heels for her everyday. But when I saw Julie, and talked to her. Saw her smile, heard her laugh, looked into her beautiful blue eyes…
Maybe the love of my life is not the one I married, maybe I found her while I was married, maybe it was just bad timing. If that’s true…I couldn’t let her pass me by.
I know I can’t do anything right now. I couldn’t just up and leave, looking all over God’s creation for her. Plus, maybe time is what she needs. As soon as this season is over, when I head home in the summer…I will do everything in my power to see her again. Even if it kills me.

Chapter 13
I’m a month pregnant. I’m going crazy right now, being in Pittsburgh is not helping at all. I still haven’t cried over him. I’m proud of myself honestly, I should have told told myself long ago that he was not worth the tears. Maybe leaving Pittsburgh would help things…help me clear my head.
“Hey mom” I said into the phone.
“Hi sweetie, how are you?”
“Well I was hoping there was some room for me…at home…” I replied.
“You’re planning on coming home?” she asked excitedly.
“Yah. With the whole Max thing going on, it hurts to be around Pittsburgh” I said biting my lip, keeping the tears back, “so I was hoping Montreal would help”
“Well your room is still here sweetie” she answered, “we’ll be here when you get here”
“Thank you mom” I said, “oh, and I have some news. It’s better for face to face, but, it’s your opinion whether it’s good or bad news”
“What?”
“I’ll tell you when I get home” I said hanging up the phone.
I had already bought the ticket and was leaving tonight. I just wanted to let my mom know I was coming. Looking back at the apartment I had shared so many memories with Max in, I quickly shut the door, before a break down started. It’s been a while since I cried, I was not going to start now.
Ever since Max last called me, when I told him I was no longer part of his life, was the last time I had spoken to him. He never called, or texted, I haven’t even run into him surprisingly. I was trying to move on, get my life in order again, start over. I knew I could not do that in Pittsburgh.
--------------------------------------------
“Mom! Dad!” I exclaimed as they both gave me a huge bear hug, “where’s Ally?” I asked pulling back.
“She’s still not doing well since she got back from Pittsburgh. She’s not the same Ally anymore” my mom sighed.
“Have you tried talking to her?” I asked.
“Yes, but honestly I think you’re the only one who can cheer her up” she replied.
“Ok” I nodded.
Grabbing my bag, I went up the stairs, turned the corner and stopped at Ally’s room. I knocked on the door and didn’t get an answer.
“Ally bear?” I said, and immediately she opened the door.
“Julie” she said quietly giving me a hug.
“Sweetie, you ok?” I asked with concern.
“Kris keeps trying to call me” she said, “he even called the house…did you give him the number?”
I just nodded, “but it was for your own good”
“How?” she snapped crossing her arms across her chest.
“You should have seen him after you left Al. He was going nuts. He left his fiancee”
“What?” she replied slowly moving her arms down to her side, wide eyed.
“He said even in the short time you have known each other, he feels connected to you, he has serious feelings for you, I can see it”
“Really?”
I just nodded.
“Should I call him then?” she seemed a little flustered as she looked around the room for her phone.
“It looks like your already going to without my opinion”
She just stopped, looked up at me and smiled, “thank you Jules”
“You’re my sister” I shrugged, “I know you would do the same for me”
I picked up my bag and moved into the old familiar room I left at the tender age of 18 for the journalism program in Pittsburgh. Nothing changed. My Simple Plan, Fall Out Boy, and even my Billy Talent posters were all still up. I set my bag down and looked at the pictures that were still sitting on my desk. Ally and I mostly, along with some of my best friends, like Jordan, when we lived in Thunder Bay for a while. Some amazing memories sitting on that desk that I would never forget, and still some sitting in my mind, that I didn’t need pictures to remember…
------------------------------------------------
“Mom, dad, I need to talk to you” I said moving into the living room, “Ally, you’ll probably want to hear this too”
“What’s going on dear?” my dad said looking up from his book.
“Well…” I said fiddling with the ring on my finger, “you all know what happened with Max” I saw my dad’s jaw clench and my mom shifted uncomfortably.
“Yes…”
“I’m pregnant”
My dad just blinked a couple times, his face was completely blank, my mother had a look of shock on her face and my sister had a look of confusion. So many emotions…
“Excuse me?” my dad finally spat out.
“You heard me”
“How long?”
“A month…”
“Julie!” my mom exclaimed, “how could you keep something like that from us?”
“Because I knew how dad would react” I said pointing towards him. He was pacing and running his fingers through his hair with one hand and had his glasses in the other. He wanted to say something but the words wouldn’t come out.
“Mom, it’s practically the reason I came home, because of Max leaving…I didn’t have anyone to help me through this…I need your support” I pleaded.
She just looked at me with loving eyes and my dad stopped in his tracks and sighed, “well I guess there isn’t much we can do about it” he sighed.
“Of course we’re here sweetie” my mother said, “but it doesn’t mean I like what you did”
“Yes I know” I sighed, “but thank you”
I turned to my sister and she didn’t look pleased.
“What?”
She stood up and just glared at me, “you are such a hypocrite”
“Excuse me?”
“You tell me you don’t want me going out, and meeting the team, you don‘t want what happened to you happening to me…when you got knocked up by one of the players!” she exclaimed.
“Ally!” my mom stood up.
“No, I’m sick of this. The moment I do one little thing wrong, I get criticized for it, and then she gets knocked up by a player…who’s married might I add and then you guys welcome her and pretend like nothing happened!”
“Ally, the only reason I tried to keep you from them was so you wouldn’t end up in the same situation I did! Which almost happened, your fucking lucky he left his fiancee or you’d be in the same shit I’m in!”
“Watch your mouth in this house Julie”
She just stared at me, “again…making everything about you…”
“Ally, stop acting like a 15 yr old” I snapped.
“Stop acting like the world revolves around you!”
I just took a deep breath and calmed myself, “I never once thought about myself when this whole thing happened with Max, it was all Max, I worried about him when he worried about me. And when I let you into my home, and took you to a game, let you meet some of the guys, you still go and take advandtage, running off with someone you barely know! Oh and that whole time, even though my heart was shattering, I still do everything in my power to find you….I may have my moments, but the world does not revolve around me” I rubbed my forehead and looked at her as she took it all in. I just shook my head and went upstairs. I didn’t need this stress, I didn’t want to hurt this baby.
“Hey mom” I said into the phone.
“Hi sweetie, how are you?”
“Well I was hoping there was some room for me…at home…” I replied.

Chapter 12
I was sitting on my bed. Thinking. I could still hear him getting his stuff ready to leave. I just wanted him to go, before I changed my mind and begged him to stay. Suddenly I heard a light knock on the door, I froze. I knew it was him, so I didn’t answer.
“Julie?”
Nothing.
“Julie”
Nothing.
“Julie, just so you know, if there was any other way to do this, I would. I know you’ll be fine without me. You’ll find someone else, you’re too…incredible not too find someone else. Just remember that I love you, and I always will…”. It seemed he waited there to see if I would reply. I didn’t.
“Bye Jules…”
I just sighed as I heard the apartment door shut behind him. I jumped up and opened my door, he was gone. He was really gone...
*Max’s POV*
I got to the apartment I was kicked out of weeks before. I had already called her, she knew I was coming. She just didn’t know why.
“Why are you here?” she asked as I stepped in the door.
“I’m back” I simply said.
“Excuse me?”
“I want to work this out with you Liz” it really hurt to say it.
“What about…Julie?”
“I broke it off” I swallowed a lump in my throat and continued, “this is too important to throw away…”
“Seriously?”
“Yes” I simply replied.
She just jumped up and wrapped her arms around me, “I know we can get through this Max, I’m so glad you came to your senses”
I had something smart to say but I kept my mouth shut as she pulled back. I just fake smiled at her as she excitedly hugged me again.
*Julie’s POV*
I had sent Ally back home, like I had promised. I was now in an empty apartment, sitting on the couch, staring at the wall. I still hadn’t cried yet, but my chest felt like it was going to burst. I missed him like crazy, and it hurt, it hurt way too much. I didn’t know what I was supposed to do with myself now.
My thoughts were interrupted with a huge thump on the door. I hoped it was Max, but was disappointed when I looked in the peephole and saw Kris.
“What do you want?” I asked behind the closed door.
“I want to see Ally”
“Ally’s gone Kris. Go home” I replied moving away from the door.
“Julie, can I talk to you then?”
“I’m really not in the mood” I sighed.
“Please?” he pleaded.
I just took a deep breath and unlocked the door. He walked past me into the living room. He looked frustrated.
“What’s wrong with you?” he asked.
“I’d rather not talk about it with you” I snapped.
“Sorry”
“No, sorry. Max went back to Liz”
“Really?”
“Yes” I replied.
“But he was so happy with you”
“I’m done talking about this” I said holding back the tears, “what do you want?”
“I feel like an idiot and want to apologize to her” he said, “I really felt a connection with her Julie, as cheesy as it sounds”
“What about Anna?” I asked referring to his fiancee.
“I ended it. We weren’t right for each other, and I haven’t been able to stop thinking about Ally”
I looked at him closely. You could tell he was being sincere. As much as I hated the guy for what he did, he really meant what he was saying. I didn’t know what else I could do.
“Kris, she went home…to Montreal” I said, “have you tried calling her?”
“She won’t return my calls. I’ve left messages, texts…she won’t respond”
“She gets the stubborness from me” I sighed.
“Is she coming back anytime soon?”
“Kris…if your around she won’t come anywhere near Pittsburgh”
He just sighed and ran his fingers through his hair.
“We’re both in the same boat now aren’t we?”
I just nodded and sat back, “everything hurts Kris. I haven’t cried since he left”
“When was that?”
“Last night”
“I guarantee you it will come” he replied, “you have to let it out Julie. I know you’re strong, and I know he’s probably not worth it, but it’s not healthy keeping it in”
“Yah I know” I huffed.
“You know what?” he said standing up, “I’m going to leave you alone”
“Wait Kris” I said jumping up, grabbing a pen, “here’s the number to my parents house. It’s where she’s staying until she gets the money for her own place” I wrote it down on his hand, “just don’t say your name to my parents, or she won’t talk to you”
“Thank you Julie”
“I can tell you really care about her. Even if you’ve only known her for less than a day”
He just smiled and gently hugged me before shutting the door behind him. I turned on the tv, avoiding all sports at all costs, because I knew I would see his face somewhere. Or something that reminded me of him.
I got up and walked into the kitchen, with the intent of making some coffee. When I heard my ringtone go off, probably Ally. I jogged to my bedroom when I saw an unlikely name, Max, but I had already opened my phone.
“Julie?”
I froze.
“Julie I can hear you breathing”
I never knew hearing his voice would sound that good.
“What?” I snapped, “what else could you possibly want?”
“I’m sorry”
“Don’t keep apologizing unless you’re coming back. I’m done listening to you, you have a wife, I’m no longer a part of your life anymore”
“Don’t--”
“No Max. I’m done talking to you. Goodbye”
I tossed my phone on the bed. I told myself I wouldn’t cry over him, and I will not. I refuse to do it. He made the choice, if he thinks she is more important, than he is not worth the tears.
*You lied to me, you let me down,
you turned this smile into a frown
and now you're the only reason why,
I find it hard to sleep at night.
I'm feeling sad, I'm feeling blue,
I think of the past times spent with you
and now there's nothing left to say,
so I just turn my head away*
“Julie?”
Nothing.
“Julie”
Nothing.
“Julie, just so you know, if there was any other way to do this, I would. I know you’ll be fine without me. You’ll find someone else, you’re too…incredible not too find someone else. Just remember that I love you, and I always will…”. It seemed he waited there to see if I would reply. I didn’t.

Chapter 11
*So some ideas are comin to me for this one. It's exciting. I just wanted to thank all my readers and their comments :) I love hearing from you*
“I don’t want you near me Max” I snapped.
“Julie I--”
“You tell me where he lives, and I can do this myself” I replied.
He just nodded and gave me the address, “Jor…can you come with me?” I changed my mind.
Max just looked at him then back at me in confusion, “go back to Liz” I said quietly, “since you apparently love her”
Jordan gently directed me to his car and we arrived at a huge apartment building only a few minutes from the club. I opened the door and slammed it behind me, before I could do anything Jordan stopped me.
“Jules, don’t do anything you’ll regret. Try calling her again”
I just took a deep breath, nodded and pulled my phone from my pocket. I dialled the number, and waited, no answer, “I’m going up there Jor” but again he grabbed my arm.
“Jules, I’m not letting you up there until you calm down. You’ll help nothing if you have a fit, plus, we don’t need a scene, it’s late, there are other people in the apartment”
Jordy, always thinking of others, “fine” I replied taking a deep breath in, “ok…I’m good”
“Ok” he replied, “let’s go”
We made our way to the apartment and up the stairs. I stood in front of the door for a minute and knocked. Nothing. I knocked a bit harder this time.
“Who is it?”
“It’s me Kris” Jordan said.
“Jor?”
“Yah” he replied, “it’s important”
“It can’t wait?”
“No”
I heard the lock click and the door opened. He froze the moment he saw me. Over his shoulder I saw Ally. I kept my composure and pushed Kris out of the way.
“Ally, we need to go” I told her.
“Why?” she asked looking at me with confused eyes.
“Kris is engaged Al…” was all I said.
She just looked at him, back at me than back at him. She stared at him for a minute before she looked down at the ground. She was breaking my heart.
“Why didn’t you tell me?” she asked quietly, keeping her eyes on the ground
“Ally, I--”
“Don’t get near her” I said moving in front of him.
“Julie, this has nothing to do with you” he replied.
“Kris, when it comes to my little sister, it has everything to do with me” I said, “we’re leaving”
Ally grabbed her phone off the table and shoved it in her back pocket. She glared at him as she passed him and then disappeared around the corner.
“You ever try to get near her again…I swear…”
“You swear what?” he snapped.
“You have not seen half of what I can do Kris, do not underestimate me…” I said walking out the door and Jor just shut it behind him.
I walked out to the car and found Ally leaning against it, tears falling gently. I slowly moved towards her and wrapped my arms around her, “I’m sorry Al”
“It’s not your fault” she sniffed, “I was stupid enough to believe him”
“You’re not stupid” I reassured her, “he’s the ass”
She just shrugged, looking over my shoulder at Jordan, “where’s Max?”
His name made me cringe at this point, “we’re done…”
“What happened?” she asked.
“He decided to go back to Liz…because of something his father said”
“So that’s what was up this morning…”
“Yah, anyways, I’m done talking about him, let’s go home. Jor can you drive me back to my car please?”
“Sure thing” he replied.
We got to the car and I slipped the key in the lock opening the door and unlocking the passenger door.
“Jules?”
“Yah?” I replied turning around.
“You going to be ok?”
“I’ll be fine” I sighed, “it’s only a broken heart…I’ll survive…”
He just wrapped his arms around me and I melted into him. He was an amazing friend.
“I’ll call you”
“See you later Jor” I replied moving into the drivers seat.
We got home and I immediately spotted Max’s car. Probably cleaning out his stuff. Great.
“Jules, I’m worried about you” she said as we made it to the door.
“I’m fine” I sighed unlocking it and opening it.
I looked up and locked eyes with him. Those eyes that once shined, were dark, and cold…sad. I looked away and shut the door behind me. Ally walked up to him and looked up at him, on account she wasn’t the tallest person in the world.
“What gives?” was all she asked.
“Excuse me?”
“First you leave your wife for her, cause you claim you’re in love with her, then you go back to your wife? Is my sister not enough for you?”
I just grabbed her and pulled her back, “stop” I whispered, “leave it alone. He made his decision”
“Can we talk?” he asked. He looked over at Ally then to me, “alone?”
I shooed Ally to her room and she glared at him once more before shutting the door.
“Talk” I simply said.
“You know I love you”
“Alright”
“I have to do this”
“Alright”
“Damn it Julie, you have more to say. I know you” he snapped.
“I do. But none of it will convince you to stay with me, so there is no point in trying” I shot back.
“Give it a shot”
He just stared at me as the thoughts formed in my head. Finally, I spoke.
“I love you Max. With all that I have in me. I have never felt anything like this before, which is the reason I am carrying your child. But if you would rather fulfill a commitment because your “dad said so” than to stay with the one your really in love with, your not worth it. And I will not cry a tear over you”
All he did was grab my face and kiss me, I couldn’t help but kiss him back and it took all I had in me to pull back and push him off.
“I knew you had it in you” he whispered.
“Don’t” I said moving away from him.
“What?”
“Don’t do something like that if you still plan on leaving Max. That’s not fair…”
“Julie I--”
“Fuck you, Max” I snapped, “just stay away from me”
I walked into the bedroom and shut the door behind me. I told myself I wouldn’t cry over him, I told him that. It’s all his fault. He made me this strong. Not to take any crap from anyone, including him. So I’m done. I’m done fussing over him, I’m done crying, because he is no longer a part of my life.

Chapter 10
*It's been a while since I posted for this one, I've been working on other ones, and was a little lazy in trying to finish this one up. I've notice that I'm putting a tad too much dialogue in this, I'm hoping to fix that in future chapters. Comment please. And those who do comment, I really appreciate it. You guys are awesome readers, and I hope you'll continue in your feedback :)*
The Penguins were gone on a road trip and my sister Ally was here for the weekend. Only the weekend. I knew if she stayed any longer, she would beg to meet some of the guys. I’m not stupid. I know how beautiful she is and I know some of those guys will pounce the moment they get the chance.
“How’s your sister?” Max asked over the phone.
“Good, I think she’s bored though” I sighed, “I’ve done everything but take her to one of your games, well, because you guys are gone”
“Well how long is she around?” he asked as I heard noises in the background.
“She leaves tomorrow” I said.
“Well, we have a game on Tuesday, tell her to stay and see a game”
“No” I said quickly.
“Why not?” he asked with confusion in his voice.
“Max” I said quietly moving to the other room, “I’m not getting her near your team, I don’t want her going through what I’m going through”
“How old is she Julie?”
“21”
“I think she can take care of herself”
“She’s still my little sister Max”
“I know, but give her some credit, she’s an adult, I think she can think for herself”
“Oh what do you know?” I huffed sitting on the bed.
He just laughed, “love you too”
“I’ll let you go” I sighed, “see you Tuesday”
“See you then”
I hung up and moved back to where Ally was slumped on the couch flipping through channels. I just sat beside her and watched as she didn’t budge.
“Um, so question for you” I said as she turned her eyes towards mine.
“Yes?”
“Well, how about staying a few more days?” I asked, “Max wants you to come to the game on Tuesday and I can send you back the next morning”
“Really?!” her tone suddenly changed.
“Yes” I smiled, “you can meet Max…and some of the guys” I mumbled the last part.
“You’re kidding right?”
“No” I smirked.
“I. Love. You” she said giving me a huge hug.
“Love you too” I replied, “but can I just warn you, be careful, please. I don’t want something happening with you like it did with me”
“Yah, yah” she said texting.
“Ally” I said snatching her phone, “I don’t think you know how serious I am”
“I’ll be careful” she sighed, “Now give me my phone please?” she had her arms crossed and a serious look on her face.
“Thank you” I replied handing it back to her.
I know Ally. I know that this wasn’t going to be that easy. Flirting with some of the guys was one thing, but for some reason I can just picture one of those guys saying something to her and they end up disappearing. I just want what’s best for my sister. Is that so wrong?
--------------------------------------------------------
Tuesday finally came and I woke up with Max next to me. I guess he must have come in late last night. I just smiled, watching him sleep. He must be exhausted. The Pens have been really busy the past little while, but they have been winning games which is what counts. It was coming up to April, but we all knew they were making the playoffs, they were, 4th in the conference, with the Devils just ahead of them. I had a good feeling about this season, especially since they were so close last year, but the Wings sadly came out on top.
I gently got up, trying not to wake him, I suddenly felt sick to my stomach and once again had my head in the toilet. It’s only been a week and I’m already tired of this. I stood up and brushed my teeth, I moved back into the room, he was sitting against the headboard and a small smirk appeared on his face when he saw me.
“What?” I said looking down at myself then back at him.
“Nothing” he said still smirking.
“Don’t start, I’m not in the mood” I sighed sitting beside him.
“You’re going to get through this Julie, I promise” he said tucking a piece of hair behind my ear.
“Yah I know” I sighed.
In the midst of the perfect silence, my phone rang. Way to ruin the moment. I picked it up seeing a familiar number. Price.
“What?” I answered.
“Hey to you too” he replied.
“Sorry, I’m moody” I said, “what’s up?”
“I’ve been meaning to talk to you, I saw you and his wife going at it” he chuckled, “didn’t know you had it in you”
“Thanks” I smirked.
“Are you ok?”
“I’m perfectly fine, why?”
“Cause you don’t sound too healthy” he replied. My voice was hoarse from throwing up.
“Oh” I paused, I wasn’t sure if it was right to tell him or not, “I’m fine”
“Ok, if you're sure”
“I’ll talk to you later, k?”
“Alright, see you”
I hung up the phone and gently set it on the end table.
“Who was it?” he asked.
“Price” I replied.
I saw his jaw clench a little as he diverted his attention downward.
“Hey” I said putting my hand on his cheek, “he’s a friend, just checking in after what happened”
He relaxed and looked back at me, “sorry”
“Stop being so jealous” I joked.
“I have no one to be jealous of” he smirked.
I just kissed him gently as his phone went off. He turned to answer it and frowned at the name.
“Who is it?” I asked.
“My dad…”
“Go talk to him” I said pushing him off the bed.
He weakly smiled and answered the phone. He moved to another room, like I could understand half the things they would talk about anyways.
He finished talking with him and I was already dressed in a simple long white t-shirt with a long black open flap vest and a pair of black leggings.
“Everything ok?” I asked.
“Fine” he simply said.
He didn’t look like he was in a great mood, so I didn’t pester him about it. He left for practice without another word. I was a little nervous that something was up.
I moved to the kitchen where Ally was and just sat across the table from her.
“Met Max” she said, “cranky…”
“Yah, his dad called, he didn’t say much to me afterwards either” I sighed, “I’m hoping everything’s alright”
“I’m sure all is well” she smiled looking back down at the newspaper.
------------------------------------------------------
The game went fine, they beat Atlanta 5-2. I got a text from Max saying he’d meet us at Diesel, so Ally and I decided to leave. We entered the building, the loud building and sat up by the bar. I wasn’t allowed to drink, but Ally ordered herself something as we chatted for a bit.
After a while, I saw a few players streaming in. Like Sid, Jor and Kris. Jor spotted us and all three of them were standing in front of us in seconds.
“Hello guys” I smiled, “what’s up?”
“What’s up with Max?” Jor asked quickly, “he barely said a word to anyone tonight”
“I know as much as you do” I sighed, “he’s been acting strange since his dad called earlier today, before practice”
“He never said anything?”
“Notta” I replied.
Just then, Max came in with Fleury and spotted us.
“Hey” he said.
“Can I talk to you?” I asked him before he could say anything else.
He just nodded and we moved outside the door.
“What’s going on?” I asked.
“What are you talking about?”
“Max, this is the most you’ve spoken to me today, to your teammates…what happened?” I crossed my arms and shifted my weight to one foot. He never lied to me, he had no reason to.
“Julie…” he began, “my dad doesn’t want us to be together…”
“Ok…well that doesn’t surprise me. But you told him we were staying together…right?”
He just looked down at the ground and didn’t respond. I just looked at him, letting out a shaky breath, “what did you tell him?” I asked quietly.
“I told him I would work it out with Liz. To save our marriage”
My heart dropped at the very words, “you--you wh-what?”
“Julie” he said moving closer.
I stepped back, “Don’t. Please tell me you were lying to him Max”
He just shook his head.
“Your going back to her?”
He just nodded.
“Don’t just stand there Max, say something!” my eyes were welling up with tears.
“Julie, my parents raised me to be a man of integrity, to be trustworthy, loyal…”
“Well I’m pretty sure that’s been shot to hell Max” I snapped.
“Julie, I’m doing this for your own good. You deserve someone better than me. Someone who will treat you with respect, who isn’t married”
“Max, I don’t want anybody else, don’t you get that! I only want you. Who will help me with this baby?” I was almost in hysterics. I couldn’t believe he was doing this to me, now! My heart was shattering into pieces, and all he was doing was stomping all over the pieces, he didn’t care.
“I’ll help you” he said, “but I can’t leave her like that. It’s not fair”
I didn’t reply I just sniffed back a few more tears and darted past him. Trying to find my sister. Instead I found Jordan.
“Where’s Ally?” I asked, still in tears.
“What’s wrong?” he asked suddenly with concern in his voice.
“It’s nothing” I replied wiping my eyes, “I just need to find Ally”
“I don’t know. I saw her leave with someone, but I didn’t catch who it was”
“Fuck, I must have missed her when I was outside” I said under my breath.
I grabbed my phone and dialled her number quickly. There was no answer and suddenly I broke into another stream of tears. Jordan was suddenly behind me and caught me before I could fall over. I cried in his chest, for I don’t know how long. Finally I pulled back and wiped my eyes.
“Julie, breathe. What’s going on?”
“Max is leaving me to go back to Liz. I can’t find my little sister, and I’m pregnant” I said, “Everything hurts right now”
I looked up at him and Jordan was glaring in front of him, I turned around and saw Max.
“Don’t you get near me” I cried, “Go back to your wife who you’re apparently so happy with”
I walked past him and he grabbed my arm. Jordan jerked forward to help but I stopped him, “it’s fine Jor” I said pulling my arm away from him, “I can handle myself” I just glared at Max.
“Julie, I know where Ally is” Max said.
I just looked at him funny, “well?”
“I saw her leave with Kris”
“Kris? Letang? Engaged Kris?”
He just nodded.
“He is a fucking dead man” I snapped going towards the door.
The Penguins were gone on a road trip and my sister Ally was here for the weekend. Only the weekend. I knew if she stayed any longer, she would beg to meet some of the guys. I’m not stupid. I know how beautiful she is and I know some of those guys will pounce the moment they get the chance.

Chapter 9
*Please comment on this one. I cannot stress that enough. I'm not getting much feedback. And to those who I do get it from, I really appreciate it! I'll let you read the chapter now :) Enjoy*
I woke up feeling sick to my stomach again. I raced to the bathroom, making it in time to puke out my guts, well that’s how it felt. I finally got the energy to stand up and brush my teeth.
“You ok?” Max asked sitting up on his elbows on the bed.
“Does it look like it?” I snapped.
“Ooh, hit a nerve” he said putting his hands up in defense.
“Sorry, moody” I sighed.
“Come here” he said motioning his hands to come sit next to him. I sat next to him and I put my head on his shoulder, “Max…I’m scared” I quietly said letting out a shaky breath.
“I know” he simply said wrapping his arm around my shoulder and gently squeezing me.
“I mean, eventually the press will hear about this. Then it’s hell for you again, and then I have to go through nine months of pregnancy through all of that. What if I can’t handle it? What if I can’t do this?”
He took his hand and lifted my head towards his, “you’re going to be fine. I’ll be here the entire time, you have nothing to worry about Jules”
“Don’t go anywhere” I quietly said.
“Never” he said gently kissing me. I just smiled up at him and bounced out of bed, “Oh! I need to check the scores” I said running to the living room.
I grabbed the remote turning it onto ESPN. I watched through a couple commercials when the unthinkable happened.
“How Max Talbot manages to juggle hockey and two women is beyond me. Julie Miller and Liz Talbot were found, physically fighting in a local drug store in downtown Pittsburgh. One of the cashiers managed to tape some with her cell phone”
Then it showed a video of Liz slapping me and then me punching her out. Along with a few choice words we both used.
“Max…” I looked up at him as he watched it all unfold. He was wide eyed and speechless, “Max…baby” I said gently touching his cheek. He finally snapped out of it and looked down at me. Then he turned away and went to his phone.
“Max, what are you doing?”
“Calling Liz” he said angrily dialling in her number.
“Max…don’t make this worse than it has to be”
“She is the one making this worse” he snapped.
“Max” I said grabbing the phone from his hand and hanging it up, “don’t”
He was practically shaking he was so mad, I’ve never seen him like this before.
“Julie, I’m sorry I did this to you” he sighed.
“You did nothing” I told him, “I chose you, and unfortunately…you were married. But, soon you won’t be, and this will all end. I hope”
“I will do anything I can to keep you from getting hurt again” he said putting a hand on my cheek.
“I know” I smiled, “let’s just let this incident blow over. And be careful what you say”
“I won’t say a word” he replied, “not until this whole mess is over with”
The rest of the day was the usual routine. Max went to the morning skate, he had a game tonight and they were leaving for New York tomorrow. I just cleaned my apartment, which I hadn’t been paying much attention to lately. I did everything I could to keep from going out. I knew I would have to eventually, the fridge was empty.
I grabbed a pair of black yoga pants and black hoodie. I grabbed a ball cap from the closet, Max’s, just a white one with the Penguins logo. I really didn’t want anyone recognizing me, and I was paranoid about running into Liz again. I put on my black uggs, grabbed my keys and was out the door.
I was quick through the store, grabbing the basics, milk, bread and a few extra things that were needed. I got to the cash, anxious as she rang everything through. I kept my head down as much as possible. She gave me the total and I handed her the cash.
“Hey, aren’t you--”
“Don’t” I said cutting her off, “that’s how it happened the last time”
“Sorry” she replied handing me my change, “if it’s any consolation, the wife seems like a bitch” she whispered.
I just chuckled, “Thanks”
I grabbed my few bags and put them in the backseat of the car, getting home as quickly as I could. I set my things on the table and saw a note.
“Hey, was hoping to catch you before you before I left for the game. Your sister called the apartment. Talk to you tonight. Love, Max”
I just smiled as I read it. This whole thing was turning out different than I expected. He didn’t go back to Liz, I’m having a baby, and I’m completely happy. The only thing that could ruin this is the press, how I hate them, even though I used to be one of them. Maybe losing that job was for the best.
I grabbed my phone and called my sister back quickly. She wanted to come down. I wanted her to come down too. I missed her like crazy and I really needed her here right now. She planned on coming down this weekend, which is actually convenient, all the players should be gone, road trip. I don’t want her getting involved with them, I didn’t want her ending up in the kind of mess I was in…I will do anything in my power to keep that from happening to her.

Chapter 8
*I was a bit skeptical in posting this. I wasn't sure if it was up to par with my usual. But I decided to anyways, I haven't posted one for this story in a while. I hope you guys enjoy. And remember, commmmmentssss, or no more chapters. Thanks guys!*
I woke up the next morning and smiled as I saw Max beside me. He was out late last night after the big win against the Canadiens. I didn’t see any of the game, I was asleep pretty early. It was the first night I actually got a decent sleep in a while. As I stood up my head got a bit spinny and my stomach turned. I ran to the bathroom and threw up, it was not pretty. I stood back up, still woozy and washed my face and mouth. I still felt like crap and went back towards my bed, Max was already up.
“That didn’t sound good” he said with concern in his voice.
I sat back into bed and pulled the covers up, “I don’t feel so good”
He immediately sat back, “should I be careful?”
“You’ll be fine, I’m sure it’s nothing” I sighed.
“Well I have practice” he said standing up, “I’ll see you after?”
I just nodded as he gently kissed my forehead.
All day I felt awful, I finally got the energy to get up and eat something, I was actually starving and my head was throbbing. I had some cereal and actually felt a tad bit better. I curled up on the couch and watched “You’ve Got Mail” it was a classic, I adored it. It was around 3ish when Max finally came in the door.
“Hey” I said still watching the movie.
“Hey, feeling better?” he said kissing my forehead and walking towards the shower.
“Yes. Good practice?” I asked him.
“I suppose” he replied from the other room, “they asked about Price…again”
“Again?” I asked, when did they ask about him before?
I saw him walk back into the living room with just shorts on. He just looked at me.
“What?”
“Did you see any of the highlights Jules?” he asked.
“None” I replied, “I mostly slept this morning”
“Well, the two of us got into a shouting match, and there was a couple shoves, I got a penalty, which they scored on. After the game they asked me all this shit about Price and whether anything was mentioned about you in our “tussle” if you will” I just smirked as he finished.
“What?” he asked.
“You’re cute when your annoyed” I laughed.
“Well I pride myself on looking good in any mood” he said with a proud smile.
“Wow, you have a big ego” I joked.
“Well thanks” he said sarcastically.
He went back to shower and I stayed in my spot on the couch. I finished my movie and switched over to watch the highlights of the game. I watched to see if Price had anything to say, but it didn’t even look like they talked to him. I wanted to call him, but I would just feel stupid. I stood up to make the effort to take a drive, but my head got spinny again and I sat back down.
“You ok?” Max asked coming into the room.
“I don’t know what’s wrong with me” I told him.
“Why don’t you just relax, all this stress probably isn’t helping” he told me.
“I suppose” I replied.
----------------------------------
For the past few days I was still feeling awful. Max was gone away for a few days on the road as it was getting closer and closer to the playoffs. I was getting suspicious as the symptoms were getting more obvious, was I pregnant? I decided to find out.
I changed into a pair of stretchy yoga pants and black hoodie over my Penguins t-shirt. I pulled my hair into a low ponytail as the curls fell down my face. I put on some makeup to hide the tiredness, it showed. I shoved my feet into my black uggs and grabbed my phone and keys.
I drove myself to the drug store without any problems, the fresh air for once was doing me some good. I walked in and quickly grabbed a pregnancy test. I subtly brought it to the cash and tried to get out of there as quickly as possible. That didn’t happen.
“You look really familiar” the cashier said.
I snapped my head up and glanced around, “oh really?”
“Yah” she said, “but I can’t seem to put a name to the face”
“Oh that’s too bad” I said quickly digging for money.
She told me the price and I handed her the exact change.
“Wait…” she said looking at me one last time, “you’re Julie Miller”
Shit, the cat’s out of the bag.
“I think you have me confused with someone else” I lied smiling nervously.
“No, you’re Julie, I saw the pictures, unless you have a twin somewhere”
“You’re Julie?” I heard a soft voice from behind me.
I turned to see a tall blonde, with green eyes, beautiful, she looked like someone out of a movie. Perfect skin, perfect hair, perfect everything.
“Maybe” I quietly said.
“I’m…Liz” she said it calmly. I almost passed out right there.
“You’re…her…” I had no idea what I was supposed to say.
“You’re…her” she repeated me.
“Yah…”
“I see you might be…” she couldn’t finish it, I’m surprised she hasn’t attacked me yet.
“Possibly…but I don’t know for sure” I said looking down at the ground.
“Are you happy now?” she asked bitterly.
“Excuse me?” I said shooting my head up.
“You’ve ruined my marriage, my life and our happiness”
“Liz…don’t start, I just want to go home…I feel like shit”
“As you should” she was starting to get angrier.
“I meant physically, so just leave me alone”
I tried to walk out but she grabbed my arm and swung me around. Are you serious, Malibu Barbie wants to fight? No thanks.
“Fuck off Liz, if I am pregnant, I’d rather not lose it when it’s barely weeks old”
“Like I care if you lose that baby. That baby should be mine” she said shoving me. My head started to spin and I grabbed onto a nearby post.
“I told you” I said weakly, “just leave me alone”
She wouldn’t let up and took the back of her hand and slapped me across the face. Okay, now she was asking for it. I balled my hand into a fist and used all my energy and punched her square in the jaw and then fell back, almost passing out. A lady ran over and helped me stand up.
“You ok sweetie?” she asked me looking over at Liz, “from what I heard she was being a bitch” she said that last part a bit quieter.
“Not really” I said putting my hand on my face, one of her nails put a huge gash across my right cheek, “I just need to go home. Just keep her away from me” I pointed towards Liz.
She just nodded and responded, “You don’t look so good, maybe you should get to the hospital dear”
“I’m ok, I’m just going home, I need sleep”
“Be careful” she said with worry in her voice.
“Thanks” I smiled back at her.
I drove home and made it without any issues. I walked into the house and threw my phone and keys on the coffee table and went to the washroom. I looked in the mirror as the gash felt worse than it looked. If Max were to find out about this he would go ballistic. I cleaned up the cut, but it was still pretty obvious, there wasn’t much I could do. Max was back tomorrow and this wasn’t going to heal that fast. I gave up and looked in the white plastic bag for the test I just bought.
------------------------------------
Minutes past and they felt like hours as I sat on the floor against the bathtub. My mind was going through so many possibilities. Right now, it would be a blessing if I wasn’t pregnant, but all the signs pointed otherwise, and that scared me.
Finally, it was ready and I quickly jumped up to look. Positive. Oh joy, this was going to go over well with Max. Do you seriously think that this is going to help on the stress of the playoffs and Liz breathing down his neck? I doubt it. How was I supposed to tell him?
I jumped into a warm shower to see if it would help me feel any better. Physically it did, but emotionally, not so much. Every second that got closer to him coming terrified me more. I was afraid of his reaction, what if he was to leave? What if he went back to her? I mean, she’s gorgeous, why would he ever leave someone like that….for me? Why would he want a child…with me? It just didn’t make sense.
--------------------------------------
We had a 30 second phone conversation so he could tell me he was back in Pittsburgh and on his way back. My stomach felt like it was going to explode, my hands wouldn’t stop shaking and my mind was filled with negativity, I hated how he did this to me.
I waited. It felt like hours, but it was only 20 minutes when he finally walked in the door. I smiled at the sight of him and stood up to greet him.
“Hey” he said putting his hand on my cheek and kissing my forehead, “wait”. He looked down at my face and saw the gash Liz had left not 24 hours ago.
“What happened?” he said looking at me with worry in his eyes.
“I had a run in with your wife” I replied.
“How did she know?”
“I was at the drug store and the cashier recognized me, Liz was right behind me”
“Are you ok?” he asked putting both hands on my cheeks this time.
“Don’t worry, I’m more worried about how you’re feeling, I know your temper” I said taking both his hands, “don’t do anything you’ll regret, it could make things worse”
“I won’t” he said, “but you’re ok?”
“I’m fine, but I have something I need to tell you” I replied, getting more nervous by the second.
“What is it?”
“Max, I’m pregnant” I said it bluntly, but quickly. I moved back in anticipation of his reaction. I think he was shocked at first but he wrapped me in a hug and spun me around. I was in shock myself.
“That’s amazing” he said putting me down.
“Seriously?” I asked in shock.
“Why wouldn’t it be?” he could barely contain himself.
“I thought this would add more stress to everything”
“You worry too much” he said, “you need to change that, or you’re going to get too stressed to carry this child”
“Ok…I’ll relax, I guess” I said, I was really confused.
“So what happened with Liz?” he asked, he was interested.
“Long story short, she got pissed, I tried to leave…multiple times, I felt like shit, I almost passed out but she still had it in her to bitch slap me and I punched her in the jaw” I said quickly.
He just looked at me with confusion and let out a light chuckle, “you punched her?”
“You sound surprised” I said moving back to the couch.
“I just never thought of you punching someone” he said.
“I think you brought out the feistier side of me” I said patting his leg as he sat down.
He looked down at my hand and saw the bruise, “well I guess this is proof”
“You better believe it” I said putting my head on his shoulder.
“Julie…I don’t know how I would have gotten through any of this without you” he sighed.
“Same here” I said looking up at him, “I think we can get through this Max”
“I think so too”
I fell more in love with him every single day. I didn’t think it was possible. Sometimes he still gave me butterflies, he still made me weak in the knees and he still consumed my every thought. Right now…nothing was going to ruin this, not if I have any say in it.

Chapter 7
*Just so you know for anyone who has not read this yet, i will not keep posting until i get some comments. I knoww it's harsh, but I need to know your opinion on the chapterr pleasseeeee, thank you.*
*Julie's POV*
So he isn't back yet. But I wonder if he's seen it. There must be a way to keep him from seeing it. Right? Or maybe I should just tell him, I need to be honest with him. I never even told him about Price in the first place...
I turned as I heard the door open. I saw him greet me with a warm smile and gave him a hug.
"Everything alright?" he asked.
"No" I simply said.
"What happened?" he asked.
I just pulled away and turned on the tv. They would still have the headline I'm sure. I was right. He just stared at the tv, and I stared at him.
"What's this about Julie?" he asked quietly.
"He's my ex..." I said.
"And you decided to tell me this when?" he was starting to get louder.
"I didn't think it made a big deal. It was a long time ago Max. When I was living in Montreal. I hadn't even known who you freaking were, so forgive me if I forgot to mention a past boyfriend who means nothing to me now" that last part might have been a lie...
"Then why the hell was he here?" he was starting to get snappy.
"He said he needed closure"
"Did he get it?"
"No because he fucking lied!" I shouted, "he tried to get me back"
"And?"
"Well what does it look like?! Do I look like I went back to him?" I've never fought with him like this before.
"Don't be a smart ass Julie. Do you want him back or not?"
"Not" I said quickly, "I love you"
"Do you love him?"
"Excuse me?"
"Julie...you heard what I said" he replied calmly.
"No" I lied, "no feelings whatsoever. I'll be friends with him if anything"
I don't know if he believed me or not. I just stared at him as he put together his thoughts, and I put together mine. There was something I left out...the kiss. Should I tell him? I don't know...
He was silent most of the evening. I really didn't understand him sometimes. He drove me nuts. He didn't talk things out, he thought about them on his own, normally it wasn't that big of a deal, but when it had to do with someone that still loves me, and tried to take me away...the fact he won't talk about it...bothered me. I tried to confront him about it.
"Max, we have to talk about this" I said breaking the silence that was our afternoon.
"What else is there to say?" he said, "Do you have something else to say?"
I stared at him, his dark eyes were cold, I wanted to tell him about the kiss, but I couldn't bring myself to let it out.
"No" I sighed, "nothing else"
"Ok"
"Don't you think you should be sleeping? You have a game tonight"
"I can't sleep right now" he said, "but can I just be left alone now. We can talk later"
I just nodded and started to leave the room when my phone vibrated on the table in front of him. I turned and looked at him then at the phone then back at him.
"Who is it?" he asked.
I moved towards my phone and picked it up, "it's him"
"More pleading?" he said.
"Fuck Max just let it go, it's nothing" I snapped moving to my room.
"What?" I said answering.
"Are you ok?"
"Price do you have something to say, because if not I would rather not talk to you right now"
"So you saw it?" he said.
"Yes" I replied, "Max is pissed at me. Now the media will be bothering him AGAIN about this, I'm fed up with all this drama"
"Why are you with him if he's causing you all this crap?" he asked.
"It's not him" I snapped, "it's everything that comes with him. I love him Price, but not what comes along with loving him"
"I'm not going to repeat my feelings for you again Julie, you know what they are, and if I would be so lucky as to have them returned from you, I would be the happiest guy alive, but if not, I suppose I need to give it up"
I just sighed. I realized that I love Max with my whole heart and soul, but Price, the moment I saw his face again, I knew the love was still there for him. I also knew that if I went back to Price, it would just cause more pain and drama for Max and if I stayed with Max, yes...Price would be hurt, but it would not do near the damage it would to Max. I think I've made the choice...
"Price. I know it's going to hurt, but I can't leave him. He already left his wife, and it was posted all over the media, and if I went back to you, it would cause alot more damage to him than it would for you...I will admit, when I saw you, I know the feelings were still there, but he's the one my heart belongs to and I can't bring myself to do that. Let's just end this before it gets any worse...please, for me"
There was silence on the other end. I wanted to know what he was thinking. He sighed and was silent still, he must have been thinking of what to say.
"Ok" he said, "I would never take you away from something that makes you this happy. Even if it does hurt"
"Thank you" I sighed, "we'll stay in contact though, right?"
"Of course. Goodbye Julie"
"Bye Price"
I hung up and breathed a sigh of relief. I felt so much better, but I needed to talk to Max, I needed to straighten this out, I didn't like being mad at him. I opened the door and saw him leaning against the wall, arms crossed.
"So it's done?" he said.
"It's you Max, no one else" I said quietly.
He was silent, I just bit my lip and looked down at the floor. I felt his hand come under my chin and he tilted my head towards him. I just looked into his eyes, which were warm again.
"I feel like I'm hurting you" he said.
"You would never hurt me" I whispered.
"It looks like you're hurting" he replied, "this whole thing is my fault"
"No" I said, "I chose you because I wouldn't be whole without you Max...and you chose me..." I couldn't finish the sentence.
"Because I would be completely empty without you" he finished.
I just smiled and he gently pulled me into a hug, "this needs to end" I sighed.
"It will, let's just take it a day at a time" he whispered.
"Ok" I said.
I believed him. There was no reason not to.

And there's no one that comes close to you
Could ever take your place
Cause only you can love me this way

Chapter 6
*So an idea came and I want to see if you like how it's going. If not..tell me and I will work around it. I just had to get my other love in her somehow ;) I know I have not been around in a while, my stupid laptop is being a douche...again. I'm on my mom's tonight, I'm thinking it will be another couple days before I can write some more. Enjoy what you get in this one. It's fairly long :D*
*Max's POV*
"What!?" I exclaimed. I couldn't believe what just came out of her mouth, Liz would never...
"Remember when I talked to her on the phone? Well she said that she went out the night you told her about the affair, hoping for something herself...she was flirting with some guy and her emotions got the best of her and she told this guy...not realizing he was a reporter" she stated.
"What!?" I repeated, not being able to say anything else.
"Max...relax" she said climbing into the driver's seat of her car.
"Should I talk to her?" I asked leaning into the open window.
"Do what you have to do" she said, "just don't do anything stupid, in the mean time...I will be home"
"Alright" I said gently kissing her, "see you there"
"Bye" she smiled starting the car and putting up the window.
*Julie's POV*
I waved at him before driving away from the arena. I really hoped he didn't do something stupid. I know how he gets when he loses his temper. I just didn't want him to get into more trouble then he was already in. As I was turning out of the parking lot I saw a bus coming in. As I waited for the cars to go by I looked in my rearview mirror as the bus stopped and players started getting out. They looked familiar, wait, Cammalleri, Gomez, Latendresse...it couldn't be. Then I saw him. Carey Price. I almost let my foot off the brake as I stared, which would lead me into incoming traffic. I hit the brakes hard and shook his face out of my mind. I hit the gas when it was clear and turned onto the road. See, Price was an ex, when I lived in Montreal...we dated on and off, it's where I started my writing career, we met the same way Max and I did...through an interview. It lasted a good while, but eventually he was changing, he wasn't the guy I fell for, we fought constantly and I finally had enough and broke it off. We haven't spoken since. The worst thing, he's still beautiful...
I got home and looked at my phone. I scrolled through my contacts and saw Price's name. I contemplated whether I should call him or not. But he beat me to it.
"Hi" I answered.
"So you and Max" he said.
"How did you know?" I said quietly, realizing the stupid question I just asked him.
"Julie, your picture was all over the fucking news. I know your in Pittsburgh...I want to see you"
"I can't be at the game Price. Too public right now" I told him sitting on the couch.
"I'll come see you, I have time" he said anxiously.
"Why do you want to see me?" I asked. I was getting annoyed.
"I miss you" he said quietly.
"Price, I can't be around you. I don't trust myself, especially not having seen you or spoken to you since we...ended it"
"You still have a thing for me" he said. You could practically hear the smug smirk on his face.
"Fuck off" I snapped.
"Still feisty" he said.
"Just leave me alone Price. I'm happy, and in love, I'm not letting you ruin it"
I just heard him sigh, "Julie, I just want to see you, I need some closure. I can't get over this. I keep telling myself it will never happen again, but I did love you...and still do. Can we just...talk?"
I couldln't believe what I was about to say, "Fine" I said giving him the address, "five minutes if you can find your way"
"Thank you"
I sighed and hung up the phone. Did I make the right decision doing this? I still don't know.
Some time later I heard a buzz and let him up without saying a word. I waited by the door and listened for the knock, opening before he could knock again.
"Hi" I said letting him in.
"Hey" he smiled keeping his eyes on me.
He still was beautiful. His dark eyes were shining. He was wearing a habs hat, hiding his face along wih light ripped jeans and a black under armour hoodie.
"So, what's up?" I asked crossing my arms.
"It's really nice seeing you Jules" he said.
"And?" I knew more was coming.
"I can't live without you" he said taking his hands out of his pockets, "no one else has been able to fill this hole you left...when you left"
I sighed, "Price..."
"Please, I've changed. Since you left I've realized that life without you...sucks. I didn't know what I had until you were gone...I need you"
I could see the pain in his eyes and I could tell he was sincere, and a part of me wanted to, but another part of me was unconditionally in love with Max...and always would be.
"I love him Price..."
"What about me? Do I not count in this? I. love. you." he was firm.
I was starting to get frustrated. Why did he have to do this now? I started to cry uncontrollably. All I did was collapse, but he caught me and held me as I sobbed in his chest.
I eventually composed myself and pulled away from his embrace.
"Jules. I would never get you into the kind of mess he has. I could never hurt you like that"
"He would never hurt me Price" I said quietly, "he loves me"
"He also has a wife who he's loved for a long time"
"He loves me now. They're done, it's over!"
He just stared at me, he was desperate. I know how much he wanted me. You could tell. I had the same look the night I begged Max to stay when he was still with Liz.
"Price. You're amazing, and you're being really sweet, but I can't bring myself to leave him. He needs me"
"I need you too"
He was not making this any easier.
"Why?" I simply asked.
"I'm nothing without you" he pleaded, "my life is empty. Everything hurts"
"I can't do this now" I said, "you said you wanted closure. That's why you came here"
"I lied"
"Obviously" I said under my breath, "you need to go"
He just sighed, he gave up, "fine"
I followed him as he headed towards the door. He turned to me suddenly and kept moving closer. I moved back until the wall kept me from moving back any further. I couldn't move, I didn't even try. My heart raced the moment he gently touched my face. He slowly leaned in and pressed his lips on mine. I admit, it felt good. I tugged onto his shirt and I felt him smile against my lips. It was hard to pull away. His kiss was literally intoxicating, I missed it, but then I thought of Max and I quickly pushed him off.
"Shit" I said breathlessly.
"What?" he said.
"...Max...I can't do this Price...you need to go" I said opening the door. Before I could do anything, he shut it again and leaned against it.
"After that...I'm liking my chances at getting you back"
"Fuck you" I snapped.
"Really?" he said moving closer, "that's your response?"
"I didn't mean literally jackass"
"Since when did you get this mean streak?" he said smirking.
"I get it from my boyfriend" I said, emphasizing that last word, "get out of my fucking apartment before I give him a call"
"I'm not scared of him Julie"
"Just go" I said quieter, "I can't deal with you right now"
"Fine" he sighed.
He finally walked out the door and I collapsed onto the couch. I grabbed my phone as I saw it light up with Max's name.
"Hey baby" he said. His voice was what I needed.
"Hey" I responded quietly, I was choking back tears.
"What's the matter?" he said immediately hearing the stress in my voice.
"Nothing, just come home soon please"
"I'm on my way" he said, "I love you"
"I love you too" I said.
I hung up and gently set my phone down. I started shaking trying to keep myself from even thinking about him, but it was too hard, his face flooded my mind, I just wanted to see Max. I needed him.
I turned on the tv looking for something entertaining to watch. I found FSN seeing Max's commercial. I gently chuckled. A minute later a headline showed up on the tv, not something I needed right now, and a picture of Price...in front of my apartment building.
"Habs in Pittsburgh. Julie Miller's new beau?"
*Max's POV*
"What!?" I exclaimed. I couldn't believe what just came out of her mouth, Liz would never...

Chapter 5
*sooo, this one's a bit intense. I kinda rushed this one, there could be a few mistakes, I didn't really check it over. but overall you should enjoy it :) and oh yah. COMMENTS PLEASE. Thanks :)*
*Julie’s POV*
He just left for practice and I was terrified. For him. They were going to attack him with questions afterwards. I know he’ll say nothing, but I knew he was going to be overwhelmed and torn apart. I was honestly scared for myself too, I don’t know where I was going to go to keep them away. You never know who is a freaking reporter just waiting for the perfect moment to catch you in the act.
I grabbed my keys and slipped on my shoes. I was ready to head out, when I heard a phone ringing. I searched my pockets and found mine in the back pocket. I turned the corner into the kitchen and saw Max’s on the table. The number didn’t show up, so I answered.
“Hello?”
“Where’s Max?” a female voice answered. She sounded upset.
“Um, gone to practice right now, who is this?”
“Liz, who is this?”
I froze. What the hell was I supposed to say to his ex wife?
“Um…”
“Well?” she was impatient.
“Julie” I said quietly.
“So you’re the one that ruined our marriage? Broke us apart?”
I deserved that, but I had nothing to say, but she kept going.
“You know…a whore like you does not deserve the love he has to offer”
“And you do!?” I shot back.
“I know him inside and out, I’ve known him longer than you have, I’ve loved him longer than you have and I will not let someone like you ruin that!?”
“Someone like me? The someone he’s in love with? The someone he chose over you? You’re a self-righteous bitch who doesn’t deserve an ounce of the love he has to give. He may have married you, but I have no doubt in my mind that someday I will be the one with his ring on my finger!” I was ready to scream.
“You bitch…” she said quietly.
“You’re probably the one who let this all out into the media so I would shut your mouth right now!”
She was silent.
“It was you!”
“That is none of your business” she snapped.
“So it was you” I repeated quieter.
“I didn’t mean for it to get out that way”
“I lost my fucking job for this. This could hurt Max’s career like you wouldn’t believe. Do you care about anyone but yourself!?” I felt like punching something at this point.
“After I found out about Max’s affair I went out. I was furious. Pissed off. I didn’t realize the guy was a reporter. I just thought he was flirting…so I told him”
“You told a complete stranger--”
“My emotions got the best of me alright!? I don’t know who got the pictures, I just said what happened…the pictures are not my fault”
“I’m done talking to you” I said hanging up the phone.
The nerve of that bitch to do that and then freak out at Max for letting it get out. I would love to go find her and give her a piece of my mind…like that would really do anything.
I grabbed his phone and my keys. I drove myself to Mellon Arena so I could talk to him after practice. I came in and sat back as I watched the practice, thank goodness they didn’t have any media around…yet. I made the decision to stay away from the dressing room. I didn’t need to be in there when they were to show up. I waited in my car.
After a while I saw a few of them coming out and I spotted Max. I tried to not be obvious, but all the guys knew about it now. I got a couple looks from Crosby, Malkin and even Letang. I ignored them and leaned against the hood of my car, dangling my keys. I saw him lean against the hood beside me. I slowly handed him his phone.
“You ok?” he asked.
“I talked to Liz” I said quietly.
“What!?” he said in a hushed tone.
“Your phone rang. There was no caller id, I answered…”
“And it was Liz…” he said.
“She’s a bitch” I said.
He didn’t reply.
“I’ve ruined everything haven’t I?” I sighed standing up.
“No” he said, “this is for the best Julie, you and me”
I ignored him, “did you talk to the media at all?”
“Yes…”
“And?”
“I said nothing, I ignored them and told them to not bring the fucking subject up again”
“Well that’s classy of you” I smirked.
He just laughed, “nobody is telling me being with you is wrong. I know cheating on Liz was wrong…but the decsion to be with you, I will never regret”
I just smiled big and bit my lip.
I heard someone come up behind me and Max looked up. I turned my head and saw Letang standing behind me. I didn’t say anything.
“What’s up with you ruining a happy marriage?” he said. If you didn’t know…Letang was engaged, and very happy.
I didn’t respond.
“Hey Kris, you want to drop this” said Max.
“How the hell do you know she doesn’t have someone else waiting for her?” he said.
At that point I was so furious I shoved him into the car behind him. He had a look of shock on his face.
“You should keep this one on a short leash” he said with a smug smile.
“Excuse me!?” I snapped lunging at him.
Max grabbed me and pulled me back, “just relax baby, he shouldn’t be saying a word”
“You fucking shut your mouth or your fiancee is going to find out about the blonde whore from Friday night” Max said quietly.
“You wouldn’t…” he said his eyes narrowing.
“Dude, you are getting on my last nerve so don’t think I wouldn’t…”
“Fine” he said backing off.
“Max, you need to know something” I told him opening the door of my car.
He just looked at me waiting for what it was I had to say.
“Liz told me it was her that told the media…”

Chapter 4
*So I'm pretty sure, this is my favorite chapter yet for this story:D i hope you guys agree. rememberr commmenttt pleaseee. Thanks you XD*
*Max’s POV*
I went to Jordan’s and threw my bag on his floor as he opened the door. He looked down at the suitcase and back up at me.
“This doesn’t look good” he said still looking up and down between me and the suitcase.
“We had a fight, she kicked me out basically” I said walking in.
“Did you tell Julie?” he asked, “find out how she’s taking this whole media thing?”
“Well she was the one who told me the whole thing” I began, “but I haven’t talked to her since”
“Call her” was all he said putting his house phone in my hands.
I dialled her number quickly and waited impatiently for her to answer.
*Julie’s POV*
I saw a number on my phone I didn’t recognize, I picked up anyways curious as to who it could be.
“Hey” was all I heard, I quickly discovered it was Max.
“How are you?” I asked anxiously, I was worried about him.
“I’m fine, I’m more worried about you”
“Don’t worry about me, I’ll survive” I said, “I was fired though”
“I’m sorry Julie” he sighed.
“It’s all good, he didn’t like me in the first place, he finally found a reason to get rid of me” I chuckled.
He just laughed, “I talked to Liz”
The tone got serious again, “And?”
“She kicked me out” he simply said.
“Oh…I’m sorry” I replied.
“It’s ok” he said, “maybe it’s for the best right now”
“Yah…” I said. I didn’t know what else to say at this point, “where are you?”
“Jordan’s” he said.
“I’m coming over, and don’t try and convince me otherwise” I told him.
“Ok” he said.
I knew where Jordan lived, yes. We actually knew each other some time before he became a huge hockey star. I know I should have mentioned it earlier, but I didn’t think it was that relevant. But we are good friends, which is half the reason I met Max, the other half is--or was my job.
I changed into a pair of dark ripped jeans, a long grey cardigan sweater and a white tank top underneath. It was fairly warm for spring. I just left my hair as is and put on some blush, mascara and lip gloss and I slipped on my flip flops.
I quickly made my way to his apartment and walked up to the second floor of the building. I knocked on the door impatiently and saw Jordan open the door.
“Hey Jor” I smiled.
Before he could say anything I saw Max over his shoulder and ran over to him. I gave him a huge hug and Jordan just looked on. Seriously his arms around me again was the most amazing feeling in the world. I was so in love.
“I’m sorry” he whispered.
“It’s ok” I said, “it’s not your fault”
“I love you…only you” he said.
I pulled back and was shocked at the words he had just spoken. Was this it?
“Me? After all this…it’s me?” I was choking, but kept my tears back.
“It’s always been you” he said putting his hand on my cheek.
I just took that hand in mine, “I never thought I would hear you say that…”
“I thought she was the one Julie, until I met you. My whole world flipped upside down when I met you…in a good way”
I just smiled and bit my lip, “I love you Max Talbot”
“I love you Julie Miller…and I’m not leaving you again”
“I hate to break up the moment, but it seems you have some followers” Jordan said pointing towards the porch.
I slowly walked out on the porch and looked over the edge quickly then pulled my head back.
“How did they follow me? Do they know where I freaking live?” I huffed.
“They’re everywhere” Jordan said.
“They can’t stay all night” said Max, “they’ll eventually have to leave”
Just then there was a knock on the door. Like an idiot Jordan answered it and quickly shut it, seeing the camera.
“Nice going moron” I said giving him a playful shove.
“Ouch” he said with a smirk.
I just smiled sarcastically and looked outside, they were still there.
“They just don’t fucking let up” I sighed.
“Wow, where did this feisty side come from?” Jordan asked, “I remember you timid and shy…and a lot quieter…and not so violent” he just rubbed his arm where I pushed him.
“That’s what you get for being with this jackass” I joked pointing to Max who was standing behind me.
“Love you too” Max laughed.
I reached my hand backwards and gave him a pat on the cheek, and smiled proudly back at him.
*Max’s POV*
I knew there was reason she was the one. Not only was she amazing, confident and beautiful. She could light up even a situation like this with no effort whatsoever. I was not ready to go to the media with this, but I was glad I had someone beside me during the entire thing, until it eventually blew over, and who knows how long that will take.
The three of us were sitting on the couch watching as the whole thing unfolded. They didn’t spend a lot of time on it, I’m pretty sure there were more important things to worry about. But it seemed like the header every time a new edition of sports highlights came on. I was surprised how well Julie was actually taking this. I was surprised how well I was taking this. This could hurt my career….severely, even if they don’t find out the truth. The allegations…the pictures, they are enough ammo to do damage.
I looked over at Julie who was joking around with Jordan. I had no idea what they were going on about….I was lost in my own thoughts, which is quite rare actually. I just smiled as I saw how happy she was, I have honestly never seen her this happy in a long time, since before she found out about Liz. It made me happy. It would kill me to even see her hurting, even just the slightest bit.
“Dinner?” she said standing up. We really had nothing else to do.
“You cook?” Jordan asked her in a serious tone.
“No, not really….but I do know places where we can get a decent pizza and I already know you have the beer Jordan” she said smiling proudly his way.
I just laughed, “sounds like a night in to me”
She grabbed the phone and went into the other room. I just watched Jordan go into the fridge and grab a couple beers and hand me one.
“You happy now?” he asked me.
“Well, in a way yes” I said with a sigh of relief.
“Continue” he said.
“I know picking her was the right decision, even if it was a quick one” I began, “She makes me so happy Jordan. I also know that these next few days are going to be hell, I mean, I can’t stay here forever, they are going to ask me the moment they catch me after practice, and Liz and I will end up getting a divorce because of this, and do you know how messy that will get? So I’m freaking glad I have Julie by my side, I don’t know what I’d do without her”
“I could tell you loved her the moment you spoke her name when you confessed what you were doing. I wouldn’t expect anything less” he said taking a sip, “if I were you, I would say she’s the one”
I just nodded in agreement, “I believe that with my whole heart”
“Pizza’s coming!” she exclaimed from the kitchen.
“Ok!” we both said sitting down.
She came in the room, also with drink in hand. There was something about her…
*Julie’s POV*
I was so happy right now. I know what was going on and I knew what would happen in the next few days, but I didn’t mind. These guys were my life right now, and tonight was all I wanted to think about.
I sat between them and grabbed the remote from Jordan’s hands. He tried to grab it but I quickly stood up and sat on the chair next to the couch to avoid him. He was too lazy to try and get it back. I looked through the channels and found the Canadiens and Bruins game.
“We’re watching this and I don’t want anyone trying to switch it on me” I practically commanded.
“Yes ma’am” Jordan joked as he sat back in the couch.
I just laughed as I set the remote safely beside me. See? It really does not get any better than this, I didn’t want to think about tomorrow…I just wanted tonight, I just wanted Jordan, Max, beer, pizza and a good hockey game to forget about what was coming.
*Max’s POV*
I went to Jordan’s and threw my bag on his floor as he opened the door. He looked down at the suitcase and back up at me.

Chapter 3
*soooo im gettin some feedback on this story which im enhjoying ;) im thinking of making up a little video promo/introduction sort of thing for this one, nothing huge, but maybe to get some people reading and following :) I hope ya's enjoy this chapter, it's not majorly exciting but i still think you will find it enjoyable XD*
The past few weeks I have not seen Max. I have talked to him a bit, but he just called to see how I was. I didn’t tell him the honest truth, because I was falling apart.
This next week was a big homestand for Pittsburgh so they were going to be around for a while, which means, Max has made his decision, well I hope he has.
*Max’s POV*
We just got to Pittsburgh. My stomach was turning, I’ve never been nervous like this before. I still hadn’t made a decision. I had talked to both of them since being gone, and honestly Jor was still rooting for Julie, Fleury knew too, and he honestly adored Julie, no one else on the team knew, I had to be careful, if it got to the media…I would be screwed.
I walked into Mellon Arena and got ready for a short practice since last night’s loss to the Rangers. I looked at my phone as I sat down in my stall, Liz had called, she must have done her thinking, but I realized, I haven’t done any myself…
*Julie’s POV*
I sat on my couch curled up in a warm blanket while watching “A Walk to Remember”. Saddest movie ever. I was balling by the end of it. I wiped my eyes and got up to grab myself some coffee, when I heard my phone go off. I froze.
I sat there watching it ring. It stopped, indicating they hung up, but they tried again, I knew it was Max, he was very determined even when making a phone call. I finally grabbed it off the couch, sat down and put the blanket over me.
“Hi” I said answering.
“Hey” he said, “um, were back in Pittsburgh”
“That’s good” I said, I didn’t know what he wanted me to say.
“Liz called”
I just sat there silent for a minute, preparing myself for what could come next.
“And?” I said quietly.
“I missed the call, I’m going over to talk to her”
“Oh…”
I was flipping through the channels when I landed on FSN. Some hockey game highlights were on and then…the dreaded happened.
‘TALBOT WITH ANOTHER WOMAN?’
I nearly dropped my phone and let out a small gasp.
“Max…” I said.
“Something wrong?” he asked.
“They--they--kn--they know” I whispered.
“Who knows what babe?” he asked.
I put the phone up to the tv so he could hear what they were saying. I finally put it back up to my ear and I heard a sigh.
“Who would have said something?” he sounded like he was asking himself.
“Who else knows?” I asked him surprisingly.
“Only Liz, Jor and Fleury” he replied, “Liz wouldn’t, she wouldn’t want the attention, and the guys, just aren’t like that, they would never sell me out Julie”
I just sat silent, I didn’t think anyone else knew…
“I need to go talk to Liz. Maybe that’s why she called” he said anxiously.
“Call me after” I said.
He hung up quickly and I just set my phone down slowly. I grabbed my laptop and quickly looked at the latest sports headlines. Sure enough, it was already around.
‘TALBOT SLEEPING WITH JOURNALIST’
‘MAXIME TALBOT FINDS NEW LOVE’
‘DIVORCE ON THE WAY FOR TALBOT AND WIFE LIZ?’
“Holy shit” I whispered to myself putting my hand over my mouth.
There were pictures and everything. Us in his car, at Diesel that night, and even him coming into the apartment. I thought we were subtle after I found out about his marriage, how did someone find out and why did they wait that long to leak all of this? Who would be heartless enough to do such a thing?
I was getting phone calls and texts like crazy now. My best friends, my sister, my parents. How would I face them again? How was I supposed to respond to this? I grabbed it seeing a text from Ally, my sister.
“What the hell is going on Julie?” was all she put.
I tried to play innocent, “what are you talking about?” I texted back.
“Don’t play innocent with me little sister, what the hell are you doing fooling around with a married man?”
I dialled her number and decided to call her instead. I couldn’t explain it all in a text.
“Ally, he never told me he was married until I had already fallen for him. He never wore his ring when he was at the club. It just never phased me as a possibility!”
“Well why didn’t you leave after you found out? Find someone else you could fall in love with, who wasn’t married!”
“I’m sorry” I started choking up, “I couldn’t let him go, I was in love. I still am…”
“How is she going to react when she finds out?” she asked me.
“She knew before any of this leaked” I sighed, “Max had told her”
“Wow” was all she said.
“I don’t need your bitching right now Ally. I need my sister” I sighed.
“I’m sorry” she replied, “this just didn’t seem like you, I didn’t believe it at first”
“It’s ok” I said, “have you talked to mom and dad yet?”
“They’re both furious”
“Oh joy” I said leaning back on the couch.
“You need to talk to them”
“I will call them tonight, I’ll talk to you soon”
I put my phone down and ignored any texts I received from the past little while.
*Max’s POV*
I couldn’t believe this had been leaked. I raced home to find Liz in a heap of tears. I sat next to her and she just cried in my chest. What the hell was I doing? I was ruining everything we had together. I was breaking her heart, and this media wasn’t helping. It was only a matter of time I would be bombarded with press and questions at the next post-game conference.
“I’m so sorry Liz” I told her, “I didn’t want this to happen”
“Well it did Max, and you fell in love with her, how the hell will you decide? And how are you going to face your team again?” she asked me.
“I’ll survive” I said.
“Well good luck with that, but until you make a fucking decision, you are not staying in this place with me, move out to Jordan’s, Fleury’s or go to your freaking whore, I don’t care”
“Ok, that’s it Liz, that whore is the woman I’m in love with. And for the record she’s not a whore, and she is being a lot more mature about this whole situation than you have, she has known I was married for the past four months and has not acted in any way against you. She almost told me to go back to you…”
“She sounds wonderful, maybe I should meet her” she said sarcastically.
“Ok, now you’re just being a smart ass” I said standing up.
“Well she does” she said seriously, “sounds like you two would make a good match”
“You’re unbelievable!” I said raising my voice.
“You’re the one who cheated on me, don’t start acting like the freaking victim Max! You knew this would come back and bite you in the ass!”
“I’m leaving” I said going to the bedroom. I packed what I could and shut the bedroom door behind me.
“Have a good one” I said sarcastically walking out the door. Probably for the last time.
*Julie’s POV*
I was going insane. Everything hurt right now. After this how could he not go back to her? Why would he go back to the one who caused this whole mess in the first place? I got a call from my boss, who fired me on the spot. Great, no job, no Max, my life is done.
I sat on my couch trying to avoid the media coverage on this whole scandal. But it was impossible. It was all over the place, tomorrow it would be in the papers and tabloids, I dreaded the morning when I would have to see a picture of us, the night our worlds collided. The night that would change our lives completely.
